Sachems can't hold off Weston

The Pentucket boys basketball team held a 10-point lead entering the fourth quarter, but the Sachems couldn't hold off a late comeback effort by Weston as the Sachems were upset 49-48 in the Division 3 North quarterfinals. Weston took the lead with about 1:30 to play after a series of Pentucket turnovers, and the Sachems couldn't make the last big play it needed to regain the lead down the stretch. Jake Etter led the Sachems with 14 points and Spencer Pacy had 13 as Pentucket finishes the season 19-3.

Pentucket out fast

 

Pentucket's boys basketball team got off to a strong start in its Division 3 North opener Monday night and then held on for a 71-62 victory over Bedford.

The No. 2-seed Sachems moved ahead 17-10 after the first quarter and led 33-22 at halftime. Bedford played a solid second half but was unable to get a big enough run to catch up.

Sweet revenge

Gus Flaherty knocked down seven 3-pointers on his way to a whopping season-best 33 points as Pentucket beat Canton 77-64 to avenge one of its two losses on the season. Spencer Pacy added a season-high 26 points for the winners.

Pentucket defense too much for Amesbury

WEST NEWBURY — Pentucket defended its home court on Tuesday evening, dispatching Amesbury with a suffocating defense in the second quarter and a flourishing offense in the second half. The result, a 36-point victory as the Sachems toppled the Indians, 78-42.

Still unbeaten

The Pentucket boys basketball team remained unbeaten on the year by beating Georgetown 63-44. Gus Flaherty led the Sachems with 17 points and Pat Dillon added 15, though Georgetown did get a standout performance from Arlen Winer, who knocked down seven 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 23 points.

Balanced Sachems

 

Pentucket's boys basketball team placed four players in double figures on its way to a 72-69 victory over Lowell Catholic, keeping the Sachems unbeaten at 5-0. Jake Etter led the balanced attack with 17 points while  Spencer Pacy added 14.

Total domination

The Pentucket boys basketball team creamed North Reading, holding the Hornets to just one point in the first quarter en route to a 62-29 win. Spencer Pacy led the way with 16 points, Pat Dillon and Jake Etter each had 10 and Peter Cleary and Gus Flaherty had 8. Pentucket is now 3-0 to start the year.
