Pentucket freshman Tyler Knox continued to dominate Saturday in the Division 3 North sectional, rolling to the 106-pound title with pins in 43, 41 and 36 seconds to raise his record to 38-0 on the year.

Pentucket placed six wrestlers in the finals, which was more than any other team, crowned three champions and placed third overall in the Cape Ann League/NEC meet.

Taking first and remaining unbeaten was 106-pounder Tyler Knox, who defeated Masconomet star Ian Darling 8-6 in the finals, while he was joined in the winner's circle

Pentucket wins crown

 

Surprising Pentucket won its second tournament of the season, edging Spaulding, Vt. by one point to capture the Gionet Tournament in Pelham.

Tyler Knox remained unbeaten to capture the 106-pound title and Jason Young provided more gold with the 182-pound crown. Nic Williamson  (132) and Jacob Codair (220) both came in second.

Fort Knox

 

Tyler Knox had three first-period pins to remain unbeaten and pace Pentucket to two wins and a tie in a quad-meet. Also, Chris Legacy, Nic Williamson and Korey Scheffen were perfect on the day with two pins as the Sachems improved to 8-2-1.

Depth gives Methuen titleta

 

Methuen may not have quite the star power as in the past, but the Rangers still have solid depth as they showed Saturday by placing first in the Wakefield Tournament. 

The Rangers placed 12 wrestlers and came away with three champions among five finalists. Placing first for Methuen were sophomore Adam Rader, who had a first period pin in the 113-pound finals, 145-pounder Zabian Cruz and heavyweight Dereck Ramirez. Cruz is a repeat champ at Wakefield while Ramirez won his first crown.

Royals place fourth

The Georgetown-Ipswich wrestling team placed fourth at the Scituate Tournament, scoring 127 points as a team. Tre Aulson and Matt Mansfield went 4-0 to win at 113 and 160 pounds respectively, with Mansfield coming back from a 15-5 deficit against the No. 1 seed to get the pin with 20 seconds remaining, and Troy Forgitano went 3-0 to win at 126 pounds.

Strong start

The Georgetown-Ipswich wrestling team got off to a good start Friday night, beating Josiah Quincy 45-30 in its season opener. Troy Forgitano had the match of the night, pinning his opponent with nine seconds remaining in the match. Brandon Odle, Tre Aulson and Jei Yeaton also got pins and Matt Mansfield won his match 6-4.
