Three athletes each from Brooks and Phillips wrestling advanced to Nationals by virtue of placing in the top-8 during Saturday's New England championship. They were Corey Gaffney (6th, 106), Kelvin Griffin (2nd, 113) and Anthony Burnett (5th, 285) of Brooks, and Vinny Marino (4th, 132), Eamon Garrity-Rokous (3rd, 152) and Pablo Sanchez (8th, 182) of Phillips.

Phillips Academy finished third in the Class A Prep tournament and had 11 wrestlers with top six places. Fast-improving Arnav Bhakta of Andover was runner-up at 106, and Lawrence's Ramphis Medina and Windham's Vinny Marino each placed third.

Phillips Academy usually fares well at the Northern Invitational Tournament and that was the case again Saturday as the Big Blue placed first in the 15-team field, 41 points ahead of the ususally strong Phillips Exeter squad. Phillips finished the tourney with an impressive six champions including Windham's Vinny Marino at 132 and had one runner-up.

North Andover had no problem sweeping the battle of the Andovers, its closest match being a 58-18 defeat of Andover. Among the highlights were three pins by freshman Carson Milovanovic at 113, a pair of wins by freshman Jaden Gabin at 106, three pins by Eli Tuttle at 145 and three pins by Ethan Ford in two weight classes. For Andover, which beat Brooks and Phillips, Kelvin Davilla was 3-0 at 152.
