Girls soccer

Thanks to the continued solid play of the back - including Caitlin Peters, Hanna LaRochelle, Mackenzie Miller and Sarah Viehl - the Salem girls soccer team defeated Manchester Memorial 2-0 to advance to the Class L semifinals. Liz Edgerton netted the game's first goal on an assist from Peters, and Kayla Provenzano put an insurance tally away in the second half on a nice corner kick that she bent in.

Liz Edgerton sent a crossing pass to the center of the field that Sarah Raye fired in from 12 yards out with eight minutes left in the first half of No. 4 Salem's 1-0 victory over No. 13 Goffstown in the first round of the Class L tournament. Sarah Snyder made three saves and Caitlin Peters led the Blue Devils' defense.

Salem girls soccer is on fire. The Blue Devils beat Bishop Guertin 3-1, getting two goals from Cassie Chase and another from Kayla Provenzano. Salem already has three more wins than it did all of last year, when it went 6-10-1.

Caitlin Peters scored on a 30-yard free kick to lead Salem past Manchester Memorial. The well-struck ball deflected off the goalie's hand and into the top left corner of the net.

The Blue Devils improved to 5-1-1 thanks to their 6-0 shutout of Nashua North. Leading the way for Salem were Cassie Chase (two goals) and Gina Righini (one goal, two assists). Adding insult to injury, Nashua North recorded an own goal in the losing effort.

Getting to work early

Salem soccer junior Bridget Klecan scored in the first minute and the Blue Devils made it stand up for the remaining 79 minutes of a 1-0 win at Manchester West.

Cassie Chase scored twice to lead Salem to a 5-1 win over Alvirne. Gina Rigin, Amanda Vaudreuil and Jersey Burns also scored for the Blue Devils and Sarah Snyder made two key saves at a time that the game was still in doubt.
