The Newburyport baseball team won its fourth in a row to stay in tournament contention, beating Lynnfield 8-2. Casey McLaren pitched a complete game, allowing two runs while striking out six, and he also went 2 for 2 with two runs and two RBIs. Tyler Koglin went 3 for 5 with three runs, Ken Hodge went 2 for 3 with two runs and Kyle Therrien went 1 for 3 with three RBIs. Newburyport is now 7-10 and will next face Pentucket in the first round of the Bert Spofford Tournament.

Brendan Willis allowed two earned runs over six innings and JP Kibbee went 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Newburyport drops to 1-7 with the loss, but pitcher Parker McLaren hung in to finish the game with only one earned run allowed over six innings.
