Sachems storm to CAL crown


Pentucket won not only on its first Cape Ann League boys cross country meet title since 2003, but the Sachems did it convincingly Saturday.

The Sachems, who also won the JV meet, placed five runners in the top 11, led by rising sophomore Peter Lopata, who came in third in 16:13 on the 3.05-mile Bradley Palmer course, nine seconds and one place in front of teammate Nick Murphy.

Blythe wins it


Robbie Blythe took first place for the first time to lead the Georgetown boys to a 26-31 victory over Lynnfiield and improving Paul Sousa was third, one place ahead of Charlie Mullen.

Coppola does it

Junior Will Coppola won his first-ever meet, running 16:58 for 2.95 miles, as Pentucket swept Ipswich and Georgetown. Usual No. 1 runner Nick Murphy was third and Peter Lopata was fourth for the Sachems.
