Knights fall in OT

North Andover's Rebecca Harty scored in the last 10 minutes of regulation to force overtime, but Acton-Boxboro got the winner eight minutes into the extra frame to win 2-1 in the Division 1 North quarterfinals. Allie Rodrigues made 12 saves in her return from injury, and North Andover girls soccer finishes the season 14-6.

Tale of 2 halves

Trailing 1-0 at the half, North Andover girls soccer outscored Boston Latin 4-0 in the second half for the 4-1 win in the Division 1 North opener.

Coach Lisa Rasanen said a big key was senior leadership with midfielders Kat McCann, Deedee Maguire and Becca Harty, in particular, stepping up. Emma Liporto scored twice and Jordyn Apperti did the job in net, filling in for Allie Rodrigues (concussion), who is expected back for Sunday's game vs. Acton-Boxboro.

Rodrigues taken to hospital

In North Andover's 5-2 loss to Masconomet, star goalie Allie Rodrigues was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

North Andover coach Lisa Rasanen said shortly after last night's game, "She stopped a breakaway earlier in the first half, 20th minute or so. Then they came down 10 minutes later and she just stood in goal. You could tell something was wrong. She had no short-term memory. They think she had a concussion. It was kind of scary. We called an ambulance. She's still in the hosppital.'

North Andover goalie Allie Rodrigues wasn't letting anything past her. She made six saves in a big non-league matchup against Danvers, highlighted by a diving snatch after an assumed Knight's goal was called back. But, Jillian Good scored minutes later, and NA earned the 1-0 victory.
