Haverhill dropped its quarterfinal softball matchup at Billerica, 9-2, but head coach Kara Melillo was upbeat about the season.

"I'm proud of this team," said Melillo, whose club finished 13-9. "Our tournament win (against Lynn Classical) was the first in 22 years."

The Haverhill softball team jumped out in front early, taking a 5-0 lead after the second inning, and pitcher Bryana Michitson took care of things from there, going the distance to help the Hillies beat Lynn Classical 6-1 in the Division 1 North First Round.

Bryana Michitson was on target, striking out 13 without walking a batter, and added an RBI double as Haverhill nipped Everett 11-7.

Trailing by two runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Jadynne Hill singled home one run, then came around to score with Andrea Albano on a Madison Boucher single to give Haverhill a 4-3 walkoff victory over Andover, qualifying the Hillies for the tournament.

Bryana Michitson struck out 13 in a 3-hitter and Haverhill tripped Everett 5-2. Lindsay Joubert singled in what turned to be the winning runs in the top of the sixth.

Briana Michitson struck out 13, giving her 601 for her career, as Haverhill defeated Lawrence 8-5. Jadynne Hill was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for the Hillies. Brianna Rivera was 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored for the Lancers.

Jadynne Hill drove in a pair of runs and Bryana Michitson struck out 11 as Haverhill kept rolling with a 7-3 victory over Tewksbury.
