LAWRENCE — Nyah Mazzone is back as the Methuen leadoff batter, Lynette Urena is back in the groove.

And, after Methuen defeated Central Catholic 5-3 Wednesday afternoon, the Rangers are feeling confident entering this weekend's Methuen Invitational at the Burnham Road fields.

Central Catholic downed Methuen, 7-5, as Bella Jankowski drove in three runs and Niamh Walker plated two. For Methuen, Nyah Mazzone was 4 for 4 and Coralie Mathieu went 3 for 4.

Central Catholic downed Burlington, 9-4, as Briona Myers went 2 for 4, scored a run and drove in four. Hailey Cockroft and Abby Latham drove in two runs apiece.

Sarah Janco belted a three-run homer and Abbie Latham drove in five runs as Central Catholic tripped Lawrence, 13-5. Hailey Cockroft and Bella Jankowski had four hits each. 

Central Catholic quaified for the state tournament with a 12-3 victory over Andover. Winning pitcher Niamh Walker got the win for the Warriors (10-6) and helped her own cause with two hits and three RBIs.

Katherine Powers hit a two-run home run to tie the game in the sixth, and then Anna Zdunczyk scored on a wild pitch to give Andover softball a 10-9 comeback win over Central Catholic.

Sophomore Sarah Janco went 5-for-5 with a 2-run home run and eight RBIs to power Central Catholic over Haverhill in a 14-12 slug-fest.

Central Catholic's Bella Jankowski launched a two-run home run as part of a 14-run fourth inning, helping the Raiders bury Lowell 23-0.
