Pentucket softball shut out by Swampscott

The Pentucket softball team couldn't mount any offense against Swampscott, losing 6-0 in the team's Division 2 North Preliminary matchup. The Sachems wrap up the season at 11-10, while Swampscott will face North Reading in the first round.

Sachems dance into tourney

Tied in the bottom of the seventh, freshman Gina D'Agastino singled in Taylor Fitzpatrick with one out to give Pentucket the 4-3 walk-off win over Lynnfield. The win qualified the Sachems (10-6) for the tournament.

Late inning heroics

Down to their last out, the Pentucket softball team rallied in dramatic fashion to beat Hamilton-Wenham 5-4 in nine innings. Trailing 3-0 going into the bottom of the seventh, Maddie Codair hit a three-run home run with two outs to tie it. After a Hamilton-Wenham batter hit a solo home run in the top of the eighth, Megan McCoy answered with a solo shot of her own. Then in the bottom of the ninth, the Sachems loaded the bases and Caitlyn Kutcher hit a walk-off single to end the game.

Sluggers Madison Codair and Fiona Hill hit back to back home runs in the top of the sixth to help Pentucket beat Rockport 9-2. Codair went 2 for 3 on the day, and had four RBIs.

Pentucket hits its third and fourth home runs in the last two games in an 11-5 victory over Manchester Essex. This time the blasts came from Autumn West, who was 4 for 4 and scored three runs and Fiona Hill, who went 3 for 4.
