Sanborn advances

Led by 11 points from senior Ally Statezni, No. 7 Sanborn clipped No. 10 White Mountains 36-31 in the first round of the New Hampshire Division 3 tournament. The Indians (15-4) will play at No. 2 Prospect Mountain in the quarterfinals Satuday at 7 p.m.

The Sanborn girls basketball team do most of there scoring daming from inside the arc. But in its win over Raymond, the Indians went 5-of-10 from 3-point range, led by two downtown bombs from Skyla Shibel (game-high 12 points).

Sanborn got a layup from Sophie Mary-Carreiro as timed expired in the fourth quarter to send its game against Gilford into overtime. In the extra frame, Ally Statezni, who led the Indians with 18 points, scored the lone bucket to give her team the 48-46 victory. Sanborn remains a perfect 7-0.
