CHELMSFORD - Central Catholic got an overtime goal from Mary Lambert, and the No. 6 Raiders pulled off the upset of MVC rival and 3-seeded Chelmsford 2-1 in the Division 1 North quarterfinals Sunday evening.

Maddie DiPietro had the first goal, and goalie Nicole Brennan made 13 saves in the win.

Lawrence field hockey lost to Central Catholic, 5-0, but the Lancers can be proud. The game was stopped early in the second half. Central coach Josselyn Wilson explained, "A motor vehicle accident happened on the street outside of the field which caused us to call the game. A Lawrence coach, a former EMT, ran to the scene and my JV coach called 911. Everyone was OK." 

Sammy Shea scored twice and Jordan Torres also found the back of the net as the unbeaten Andover field hockey team tripped Central Catholic 3-1.

Casey Thompson made sure all her Central Catholic field hockey teammates were involved in Monday's 5-1 victory over Lowell. She dished out three assists, and also scored a goal of her own. Serena Rousseau also had two goals for the Raiders.

Central Catholic field hockey exploded for eight goals in Friday's 8-3 win over Methuen, with Mary Lambert recording a hat trick, Courtney Woronka and Meghan Hammond each adding two and Casey Thompson scoring the remaining one.

Katherine Furry scored twice and added an assist to lead Andover to a 4-0 season-opening win over Central Catholic. Sammy Shea also had two goals, and Megan Hartnett made seven saves in net for the Golden Warriors. Nicole Brennan made 14 saves for Central Catholic.
