Tanners rally

Kate Hulme's goal early in the second half gave No. 13 Methuen a 6-5 lead but No. 4 Peabody rallied for the 9-7 Division 1 North first round win. Nicole Hering capped her fine career with two goals. The Tanners pulled away despite missing top scorer Lauren Wolff (season-ending concussion).

Rangers rally

Methuen rallied back from a four-goal second half deficit and held on for an 11-10 win over Haverhill.  Miranda Smith and Kate Hulme each had four goals for the winners.

NUMBERS GAME

Nicole Hering made it 15 goals in two days, all against Tewksbury, as Methuen's girls lacrosse team beat the Redmen for the second straight day, 19-12.

Hering to the rescue

After a back and forth game the whole way, Nicole Hering scored the winner in double OT to give Methuen a 13-12 win over Dracut. Hering finished with six goals and three assists, and Miranda Smith added three goals.

Alex Comeau had 15 saves including two big ones late when Methuen poured it on but Haverhill held on for the 10-9 win. Liz Brady tallied four goals and Missy Toney added two goals and four assists.

Andover wins battle of the Gross siblings

METHUEN — Score round one to the younger sibling.

In their first meeting as head coaches, Cat Gross' Andover girls lacrosse team picked up a 15-5 win over Methuen, who is coached by Cat's older sister Briana, in yesterday's meeting at Methuen High.
