200 for Big Mac

Pentucket head coach John McNamara earned his 200th career win with Pentucket as the Sachems defeated Lynnfield 68-26 to move to 2-0 on the season.  With the win, McNamara became the second Pentucket head coach to reach the 200 win plateau this season, joining football coach Steve Hayden

McNamara, in his 10th season, is now 200-29.

”We’ve had some great players and coaches in the program for the last nine-plus years, and it’s more of a tribute to the whole program than just to me,” McNamara said of the milestone. “You see all the alumni come back — we had kids practicing with us this week that have been out of school five or six years — and it’s just a special group of girls that we’ve had.”

Rebecca Torrisi stood atop the scoring for Pentucket with 9 points. Jess Galvin (9 points), Maddie Doyle (8 points), Carolyn Modlish (7 points) and Alyssa Demeule (7 points) all chipped in.
Among the alumni and former players under McNamara who were in attendence for their coach’s accomplishment last night were Ashley Viselli, Coli Viselli, Alex Moore, McKenna Killian and McNamara’s daughter, Kelsi.
”I thought a lot of kids played really well tonight. Three freshman scored, a couple sophomores scored and the juniors came on for us too,” said McNamara. “All 15 kids came on in the first half and contributed so that was great.”
