Salem flexed its muscles with a 3-0 win over Windham in the state semis.

Pat Frydryck had 11 kills, Colton Burnham 9 kills, Matt LaVasseur 9 kills and Reed Grubbs added 35 assists and 13 service points for the unbeaten 10-team defending state champs.

No. 5 Windham beat No. 4 Goffstown 3-1 in the quarterfinals. Derek Busko "had another big night serving and at the net" said coach Cade Nethercott. Jack Grubbs notched 29 assists and 3 aces. Goffstown won regular-season match 3-2. Windham now 11-6 and Goffstown ends up 10-3.

Kurtis Jolicoeur notched 14 kills and Ryan Lanouette added 26 digs as Windham downed John Stark 3-1 in the first round of the New Hampshire volleyball tourney. The Jaguars will travel to face Goffstown on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Windham dropped the first two sets, then roared back to steal a 20-25, 25-27, 25-15, 25-15, 15-12 victory from Bishop Guertin. On his birthday, Christian Musto scored a team-high 17 kills while Kurtis Jolicoeur had 16 kills to lead the Jaguars.

JV call-ups junior Max Souter and freshman Luke Leonard starred as Windham volleyball blanked Coe-Brown 3-0.

Unbeaten defending state champion Salem won in straight games over Windham, but the Jaguars provided a good test, losing the final two games 28-26 and 25-23. Pat Frydryck led the Blue Devils (4-0) with 14 kills and Colton Burnham added 10.
