Rangers close with win

Methuen High's baseball team finished up the year at 8-12 with a 9-0 pounding of Everett. Jacob Wallace capped his year on the mound with five shutout innings to end up 5-3. Andre Lopez blasted a 3-run triple, while sophomore Owen Foote had three hits in the leadoff spot.

Freshman Jairo Vasquez gave up just one run in six innings and Jordaly Vasquez went 4 for 4 with two RBIs as Lawrence belted Methuen 9-1.

Methuen scored four runs in the seventh to beat Dracut 6-4. The Rangers strung together four hits: a leadoff triple by Owen Foote followed by singles by Jacob Thibault, Josh Martinez and Jake McAdam. The last two were pinch-hitters.

Rangers pull it out

 

Methuen's baseball team kept its playoff hopes alive with a 2-1 win over Chelmsford, scoring the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. Jacob Wallace went the distance for the Rangers (6-7) , striking out 10 while scattering six hits, while Shane Godek (2 for 4) and Danny Bonanno had the RBIs.

Wallace, Methuen roll Tide

METHUEN — With the Rangers hungry to get back to the .500 mark, Methuen High junior Jacob Wallace took charge on Sunday.
 
The righty went the route against Everett on the mound and helped his own cause with two hits, two runs and two RBIs, leading the Rangers over the Tide, 6-1.
 
Wallace moved to 2-2 on the year with a pair of saves, going the seven-inning route on a four-hitter. Wallace walked one and struck out seven.
 
Jacob Thibault and Shane Godek had big RBI hits in the win for Methuen, now 4-5. The Rangers head to North Andover today, sending senior righty Mark Sicard to the hill.

Aziz dazzles Andover

Danny Aziz walked three of the game's first four batters, then turned it around and allowed just a single hit over the next 5 1/3 innings to lead Methuen to a 2-0 victory over Andover. Aziz struck out five and Jacob Wallace worked 1 1/3 perfect innings for the save.

Wallace's gem

In the bottom of the eighth, leadoff hitter Nick Comerford was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on Shane Godek's single to left to give Methuen a 1-0 win over Tewksbury. Jacob Wallace was brilliant with a complete-game 3-hitter with 11 strikeouts and one walk. He pitched out of first-and-third with one out jams in the seventh and eighth innings.
