GLOUCESTER | If there was any motivation by his Swampscott High football team last night, then head coach Steve Dembowski missed it.

The Big Blue's renowned passing game was just 3 for 16 on the night. On the flip side, Gloucester ran the football seemingly when and wherever they wanted.

GLOUCESTER | According to the Newell Stadium scoreboard, the game was over.

But the Beverly High football substitutes who spilled onto the field in delight were sent back to the sideline by the officials for one more play. For despite having stopped Gloucester on two straight quarterback sneaks from the 1-foot line, the Panther defense was being asked to do it one more time.

DANVERS | Andrew Fulford wanted to seize the morning.

The Gloucester junior halfback wanted to help the team erase memories of back-to-back heartbreaking losses at Dr. Deering Field in 2002 and 2004. He also wanted to give the seniors a going-away gift with a win in their final game.
