Bauchman, Rangers come back to win

With his second goal of the game, Matt Bauchman capped Methuen's comeback from a two-goal deficit to defeat North Andover, 5-4.

Capping a fierce flurry of shots with seven minutes left in the game, Bauchman gathered a long rebound and whipped the puck into the open far side of the net for the game-winner, the Rangers' second after 12 winless efforts.

Methuen hockey nearly had its first win of the year, and a major upset at that, but Danvers (7-3-2) scored with about seven minutes left in a 1-1 tie. Matt Bauchman had the goal, Chris Milone (17 saves) shined in net and Dylan Yameen and Mike Baglieri played fine all-around games.

Another tough loss


Methuen's hockey team has done everything but win recently as it showed in a 6-4 loss to Gloucester. The Rangers held a 4-2 lead after two periods and outshot Gloucester 42-16, but they couldn't hold on. "We've played our best three games in six years the last week but we can't get a win," sighed Methuen coach Denny Egan.

O'Donnell gets record


Methuen senior Mike O'Donnell set a new school indoor record in the 800 meters yesterday at an open meet at Boston yesterday, recording a sizzling 1:55.25, four seconds ahead of the runner-up finisher. That ties him for eighth best all-time in the region and breaks the Methuen indoor record by more than two seconds, previously held by Erik Colon.
