DERRY — On a memorable Senior Night for the Pinkerton wrestling team, it was a sophomore who led the way.

Jean-Luc Lemieux, who has had his ups and downs since moving up three weight classes to 126, was in peak form yesterday as he pinned Salem senior star Jon Rheaume, who won his weight class at the rugged Methuen Tournament, in the second period to spark Pinkerton to a 48-18 victory.

John Rheaume and Jake Genest both had pins in the final minute of their matches to spark Salem to a 43-33 victory over Londonderry.

Salem won the six heaviest weight classses, the key being a 2-1 decision by Mike Poulin at 170 and a 9-7 decision by Tyler Greene at 220 in a 36-27 victory over Bishop Guertin.

Salem, led by John Rheaume's pin at 126 pounds, put up a battle to unbeaten Concord before losing, 45-27.

Needing a pin for the win, Salem heavyweight Tyler Greene delivered at the 1:10 mark of the first period to give the Blue Devils (3-3) a 42-41 victory over Nashua.

Salem's wrestling team edged Exeter 38-37 in a thriller thanks partly to a stunning eight-second pin by senior heavyweight Dom Gigante, who is back in the sport after taking two years off. The Blue Devils also had pins of 18 seconds by Jon Rheaume and 38 seconds by Tyler Siverhus.

Cam Crowell got a pin in the final match to give Pinkerton the title at the Blue Devil Classic yesterday.

Windham transfer Tyler Siverhus recorded a pin early in the third period in his first match for Salem as the Blue Devils whipped Keene 54-21. Jon Rheaume, Jake Peck and Dominic Gigante had first-period falls for Salem.
