Georgetown rode the arm of Ryan Browner, who threw his second complete game in three days, and took advantage of four Harwich errors in a five-run first inning en route to winning the program's first Eastern Massachusetts title.

Georgetown lost a tight Spofford Tourney finale to Triton, 3-1. The Royals scored their lone run in the fifth inning when pitcher Pat Slack singled, Tyler Wade had a bunt base hit and Colby Ingraham followed with a ringing single to right field.

Ipswich vs. Georgetown at Spotford Tourney (at Georgetown)

Jeff Moore's two-run double highlighted Georgetown's four-run fourth inning as the Royals topped Ipswich, 4-1, i the first round of the Georgetown Spottford tourney.  The Royals (9-10) meet Triton this afternoon (2:30 p.m.) in the championship game.

A poor decision

With the lead run at third base and two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, Manchester Essex decided to intentionally walk Ryan Browner to pitch to Mark Berkland. The Georgetown catcher made the Hornets pay, slapping a single to right center field that plated Dave Ingraham, and Dave Slack finished a fine mound effort to garner the 1-0 victory.

No Slack-ing off here

Colby Ingraham opened the game with a single, stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Ryan Browner's infield out. The run was all Georgetown righty Pat Slack would need in a 1-0 Royals win at Ipswich yesterday. Slack nearly went the distance in a six-hitter as the senior Browner came one for a one-out save, striking out the final hitter to preserve the Royal win.

 Pentucket lefty Alex Ministeri fanned nine and walked three in a three-hitter as the Sachems knocked off Georgetown, 5-0. Jared Fudge and Corey McNamara laced two-out RBI hits in the fifth. Connor McGuirk added a two-run base hit in the seventh.
