Jaguars fall in quarterfinals

After upsetting the top seed in the Division 2 tourney, Windham saw its softball season come to an end in the quarterfinals at the hands of Souhegan, 4-2. Lauren Rogers' single brought home courtesy runner Lindsay Hillyer and Haley Psareas to give the Jaguars a second-inning advantage, but Souhegan scored four times in the bottom of the frame. Windham loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh but saw a superb defensive play end the game and the season.

Upset for Jaguars

Windham made its first tournament win a memorable one when the No. 16 Jaguars scored all their runs in the final two innings and stunned top-seed and unbeaten Hollis-Brookline 7-2 in the Division 2 tournament. Emily Comtois had three hits and two RBIs, Makenzie Magee had two hits and three RBIs and Ashley Adamson had two hits and two RBIs for the Jaguars who will be at Souhegan Saturday for a quarterfinal matchup.

Sweep for Windham

Ashley Adamson tossed a two-hitter in game one and Rachel Vafides followed with a four-hit, nine-strikeout performance as Windham swept past Mancheter West, 3-2 and 11-3.

Red-hot Paitchel



Leadoff batter Hannah Paitchell had three more hits, scoring twice and driving in a run, to lift her batting average to .500, as Pelham clipped Windham 7-5 in a battle of two teams battling to qualify for the tournament. Jordan Parece threw a three-hitter for the win and helped her own cause with two hits and two runs scored.

A week after starting the game, Windham completed a 7-3 softball victory over Trinity. Freshman Haley Psareas had two triples and four RBIs to key the victory.

Game-ending play



With Windham's softball team clinging to a 5-3 lead with a St. Thomas runner on base in the seventh inning, Jaguars' center fielder Cailyn Costa went deep to make a nifty catch and threw it back to the infield for a double play to end the game. Emily Comtois led the offense with three hits and two RBIs.

Adamson: 3 homers



Windham pitcher Ashley Adamson certainly helped her own cause, blasting thre home runs and driving in six runs in an 11-7 upset victory over Goffstown. Heather Tornquist also had a big day with three hits, including a home run and Emily Comtois had two hits and scored three times.

Comeback win


Windham's softball team rallied for five runs in the final three innings to defeat Lebanon for its second straight win. Mackenzie Magee was 4 for 4 with two RBIs while Emily Comtois had an RBI double to score the winning run.

In charge

Rachel Vafides was commanding in every area of play in Windham's 5-0 shutout over Plymouth. The sophomore hurled a complete-game three-hitter, striking out 10, and contributed a pair of hits and two RBIs to the Jaguar offense. Catcher Emily Comtois had a double and scored and also threw out two Plymouth runners trying to steal.
