Salem freshman Jake Pappalardo cut the deficit to one with his goal early in the third, but despite late pressure the No. 10 Blue Devils could not tie the game and fell to No. 2 Manchester Memorial 3-2 in the Division 1 quarterfinals.

"The kids really battled and did not give up," said Blue Devils coach Mark McGinn. "We had a breakaway that was robbed and a late barrage of shots. But their goalie was just great."

Salem's A.J. Soucy and Windham-Pelham sophomore Mike Donovan made things tough on each other's offenses, with huge late-game stops from Soucy sending the Blue Devils to a 3-2 victory. Brandon Travaglini scored the game-winner for Salem.

Host Salem drubbed Keene, 5-0, in the opening round of the Salem Blue Devil Classic. Matt Barbin scored two goals and Cody Soucy, Jake Pappalardo and Mike Downing also scored.

Nick Phair only had to make seven saves in the shutout.
