Sanford's OT goal propels Pinkerton in finals

Zach Sanford scored his second goal of the match 5:21 into overtime to lift top-seeded Pinkerton over fourth-seeded Trinity.

Sanford, who also connected in the first period, took a nice pass from J.D. Dudek, who had a second-period goal, for the game winner. Matt Marchman had a solid night in net, stopping 22 Pioneer shots.

Pinkerton earns revenge against Londonderry

Pinkerton coach Casey Kesselring wasn't sure revenge was the right word, but there was no question his team's win yesterday was a little extra special.

One season after Londonderry shocked then-No. 2 seed Pinkerton in the Division 1 quarterfinals, the top-seeded Astros earned that revenge on their Mack Plaque rivals with a 6-3 victory over the No. 8 Lancers, once again in the Division 1 quarterfinals.

Zach Sanford, who leads the state in goals with 30, scored two hat tricks and assisted on the other two goals as Pinkerton Academy crushed Bishop Guertin 8-1. J.D. Dudek and Devin Moore both had three assists for the Astros (17-2-2).

Pinkerton 4, Manchester Memorial 3

Devin Moore scored 1:38 into overtime to give Pinkerton thrilling 4-3 over Manchester Memorial, clinching first place in Division 1 for the Astros.  The overtime was made possible by J.D. Dudek's second goal of the game with 2:49 to play.

Astros gain revenge

A game mired by 15 penalties got exciting in the last five minutes as Pinkerton avenged an earlier loss against Manchester Central, prevailing 2-1. Zach Sanford beat the Central defense on a rush, faked like going behind net and tried to tuck the puck into the net. J.D. Dudek got to the loose puck and tucked it in the open net for the game-winner. Matt Marchman preserved the win with a spectacular save with 10 seconds left, diving to swipe a rebound attempt out of the crease.
