The Rangers, who finished up 6-12, got reason to be optimistic for the future as freshmen Meghan Murphy, Kaleigh Forgetta, Jenna O'Malley, Renee Cormier and Kayla Harrington turned in strong games.

Meghan Gulbrandsen made three terrific saves in the closing moments according to Haverhill girls soccer coach Fred Tarbox as the Hillies nipped Methuen 2-1. Marissa Pond and Kelleigh Coakley scored for the Hillies.

Meghan Gulbrandsen, the former All-Star goalie, had an assist and Kelleigh Cokely scored both goals as Haverhill soccer blanked Methuen, 2-0. Hope Worcester had the shutout with five saves.

Senior Kristie Erickson had a hat trick to pave the Nethuen girls soccer team to a 5-1 victory over Somerville.

Melody Rutherford was brilliant but her 21 saves weren't quite enough for Methuen as Central Catholic girls soccer prevailed 2-1. Alexa Poulin and Courtney Walsh scored for the winners.

Methuen's girls soccer team gave Chelmsford all it could handle before falling, 2-1. Kristie Erickson scored for the Rangers while Courtney Zacharias played well on defense.

The Levesque sisters, Alex and Cassie, combined for three goals and two assists as Methuen soccer whipped Notre Dame 5-0. Freshmen Meghan Murphy, Jenna O'Malley and Renee Cormier also had fine games.
