Malden 2, Lawrence 1

Despite having only two substitutes available, Lawrence played its best game of the season, holding the lead with 13 minutes left before fatigue set in and Malden rebounded for a 2-1 victory. In his third game since returning from a spate of injuries, Romeo Gomez was stellar on defense to help out a strong effort from goalie Christian Mayi. JeanCarlos Deleon played well on the front line for the Lancers.

Rangers win going away

Methuen took advantage of a Lawrence team playing for its second straight day, running away in the second half for a 5-1 soccer victory. Kevin Echeverry broke open a tight game with two goals, getting a lot of quality help from Luis Guerrero and Kevin Lima. JeanCarlos Deleon took a corner kick from Eddy Salmoran and converted early in the second half for the lone Lancer marker.

Tewksbury 3, Lawrence 2

After losing an earlier battle to Tewksbury by four goals, Lawrence posted a much improved effort but still fell, 3-2. Anthony Ry showed his skills, dribbling past four Redmen defenders before netting his goal.

Breaking through

Mike Goodwin's goal with four minutes left in the game gave Lawrence its first win of the season, 3-2 over a Whittier squad that beat the Lancers 3-0 last week. Goodwin scored twice while Eric Carranza excelled moving from forward to defense and Eddy Salmoran and Anthony Ry also impressed for the winners.

Rangers work for first win

With Luis Guerrero playing very well on the defensive end, goalie Keith Erickson stopping nine shots and Kevin Lima (goal and assist) providing 80 minutes of high-energy play, Methuen won its first soccer game, 2-1 over Lawrence. "Our hard work is paying off," said Ranger coach Jeff Lamy. Michael Goodwin had the lone Lancer goal.
