Pinkerton Astros Girls Volleyball '11

McNally, Astros advance

Brenna McNally scored team-highs with 11 kills and 22 digs as No. 5 Pinkerton rolled over No. 12 Alvirne 25-19, 25-12, 25-19 in the Division 1 first round. Riley McKechniey added 19 service points and 27 assists for the Astros, who will travel to No. 4 Nashua North on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Near miss

In a battle of Division 1 co-leaders, Pinkerton led 10-6 in Game 5 but couldn't held on and lost the finale 15-11 to Merrimack.  Brenna McNally (16 kills, 24 digs) and Marisa Papandrea (16 service points) starred for the 12-2 Astros.

Pinkerton's girls volleyball team spotted Salem the first game and then roared back with thre straight games for the win. The Astros enjoyed one of their best all-around efforts of the season. Jordan Young led in service points (18) and blocks for the Astros.

Young serves up victory

Pinkerton's volleyball match against Exeter got off to a pretty tight start.

But midway through the first game, Jordan Young went on a streak of six straight service points including an ace. That was all the Astros needed to bust things open, streaking to a 25-13 first-game win en route to a convincing 3-0 sweep.

The McNally show

 

Trailing by 11 points early, Pinkerton's girls volleyball team rallied back to within one point in the first game and then took three straight games against Nashua North. Brenna McNally carried the Astros (6-1) on her back with 16 kills, 20 service points that included 11 aces and a whopping 29 digs.

500 digs for McNally

Brenna McNally became the first player in Pinkerton volleyball history to record 500 digs.  The junior outside hitter hit the milestone with a dig that ended game one of the Astros' 3-2 loss (25-23, 29-27, 22-25, 17-25, 15-12) to Hollis-Brookline. McNally now has 514 digs.
