Astros roll to semis

When Dover and Pinkerton played in the regular season, the Astros only led 1-0 with a minute to play. Yesterday in the Division 1 quarterfinals, the Astros won big, 5-0. Linnea Testa scored twice while Julie Saltamartini, Jordyn Hamilton and Canada Stewart also scored.

Jordyn Hamilton had a goal and an assist and her goal — the 57th of her career — set a new school record as Pinkerton's field hockey team (13-1) nipped Timberlane 2-1 to wrap up the No. 1 seed for the Division 1 tournament, which gets underway next week. Linnea Testa scored the game-winner for the Astros (13-1) while Nikki Korb scored for the Owls.

End to end excellence

With Jordyn Hamilton pushing the offense and Katelyn Erhardt propping up the defense, Pinkerton's field hockey team easily defeated Dover, 3-0. Hamilton "played extremely well, especially finishing on offense," said coach Jen Resmini of her two-goal, one-assist effort. Erhardt was a force from her center defense position.

Round 1 to Salem

In what has become a tremendous rivalry, Salem's field hockey team nipped Pinkerton 2-1, handing the Astros their first loss of the season. Erika Smith and Abbey Raymond scored for the Blue Devils (8-1) while All-American Jordyn Hamilton scored for Pinkerton.

Astros in OT

 

Pinkerton's field hockey team won a battle of unbeatens, nipping Merrimack in overtime, 2-1. Jordyn Hamilton made a nice pass to Linnea Testa, who went in alone to score with 6:14 left in OT. Julie Saltamartini also scored for the Astros (5-0), who scored the first goals all year off Merrimack (3-1).

Timely defense benefitted Pinkerton in a 4-3 field hockey triumph over Exeter. Usually a midfielder, Jessica Cote played defense all game and did an amazing job along with linemates Clara Fenton and Katelyn Erhardt.

Astros comeback to claim OT win

After battling back from a two-goal deficit, Pinkerton completed its comeback when Jordyn Hamilton scored off a penalty corner at the 1:06 mark of overtime to give the Astros (2-0) a thrilling 3-2 win.
