Hornets get offensive

Although he gave up nine hits, Ryley Warnock benefitted from three double plays and had three hits including a triple offensively as North Reading beat up on Lynnfield, 12-1. As part of a 19-hit afternoon, Ben Harrow added a two-run double highlighting his three-hit effort and Kyle Boucher had four hits and two RBIs.

Walsh tosses a gem

Brandon Walsh pitched a one-hit masterpiece through six innings as North Andover opened the Cape Ann season with a 10-0 shutout over Lynnfield. Walsh provided the first run of the game with a towering home run to left field. Tyler Leavitt delivered a three-run blast in the sixth and Griffin Coakley added three hits for the 4-1 Knights. Dom Nicolosi had a pair of hits and scored two runs.

Lynnfield 7, North Reading 5

Lynnfield exploded for seven sixth-inning runs, rebounding from a 5-0 deficit to defeat North Reading, 7-5. Chris Kavanaugh impressed in his first start on the mound, throwing five strong innings before tiring, while adding a perfect 3 for 3 effort at the plate with two RBIs. Kavanaugh has had at least a hit in all five of the Hornets' games so far.
