Andover boys relay takes 10th at Nationals; Cronin 3rd in HJ

The Andover 4x100 team of Troy Cayon, Adam Carrington, Brian Knapp and Patrick Farnham placed 10th yesterday at the New Balance Nationals in North Carolina. Their time of 42.48 places them second all-time in the area to Andover’s 42.37 last spring.

Severino, Farnham lead the way for boys

ANDOVER — A year ago, Andover’s Sydney Eberth was relegated to the sidelines as a spectator.

“She was sick with (mononucleosis) and missed last spring,” said Golden Warriors coach Peter Comeau. “She didn’t have a junior season. It was tough.”

Cam anchors win

With the 4x400 relay deciding the meet, Cam Kelly's 52.8 anchor leg gave him and Methuen a 74-69 victory over Chelmsford.  The Rangers shot put team of Dan Cormier, Derek Feole and Tyler Bolduc completed a perfect 2010-2011, scoring all of the available points in the event during the winter and spring seasons.

Rangers field top throwers

Derek Feole's 145-9 discus throw, the best in the area this season by over seven feet, highlighted Methuen's strength in the field events in an 87-58 loss to Tewksbury. Dan Cormier had a 50-2 shot put, second-best only to himself with his prior 51-0 effort. Tyler Bolduc's 160-10 javelin toss ranks him fourth in the region.

Methuen sweeps throwing events

Methuen boys track swept the three throwing events in an 85-51 win over Lawrence. Dan Cormier won the shot put by throwingh 49-4.
