Shutout at LeLacheur

Sophomore Cam Farnham ripped two RBI doubles, Sean McQuillan drove in two runs with sacrifice flies and leadoff man Alex Driscoll locked up the win with a seventh-inning run-scoring triple as Andover knocked off Dracut, 6-0. Jon Levinson scattered six hits and struck out nine for the Warriors in the Spinner Cup consolation game.

Lawrence baseball takes title

Victor Mendez hit two home runs, blasting one over the wall to left field and legging out an inside-the-park round-tripper to center as Lawrence beat Dracut 6-4 to clinch its third straight Merrimack Valley Conference Small championship. Juan Ventura added a key three-run triple for the winners.

1 homer, 1-hitter

Eric Lacroix smashed a sixth-inning, 410-foot homer into the tennis court in leftfield and Evan Cyr fired a complete-game 1-hitter as Methuen blanked Dracut, 1-0. Cyr had eight strikeouts, including the final two of the game with the bases loaded. Dave Fabrizio said, "It was a must-win game and Evan got it done for us. I've been here 12 years and I've only seen two homers in the tennis court. Austin Nader did it about six years ago."

McQuillan brothers record six hits

Sean McQuillan's three-run shot highlighted Andover's six-run sixth inning, which snapped the game's final tie and paced Andover to a 9-3 win at Dracut.  Andrew Delory hit a two-run homer in the sixth. Sean McQuillan led Andover with three hits and his brother, Mike, also had three hits.  John Levenson went the distance, allowing just two earned runs and not issuing a walk.

Zach Bardwell looked sharp, making his 2011 mound debut, allowing three hits over five innings in Central's 10-1 win over Dracut. Alex Valenti ripped a pair of two-run singles for the winners. Matt McDermott blasted a two-run homer over the fence in right-center.

Sophomore lefty Cam Cyr dazzled in his varsity debut, carrying a one-hit shutout into the seventh and powering Methuen over Dracut, 8-2. Cyr finished with a four-hitter, walking one and striking out seven Middies.
