Big Blue win title

For the first time in 20 years, Phillips Academy won the NEITA title by defeating Taft School, 4-2 at Groton School. Mark Adamson clinched the title with his 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 victory at second singles, and freshman James Heaney climbed back from a 5-0 third-set deficit to win at fifth singles. "We were in some danger when we lost our doubles matches and had to win four of six singles matches but the kids played brilliantly," head coach Greg Wilkin said.

Heaney comes through

A tennis battle of division leaders went Phillips' way as the large school top-dog dealt small school leader Roxbury Latin its first loss, 4-3. Freshman James Heaney "won a battle of wills" according to coach Greg Wilkin, taking his fifth singles match to get Phillips the win.
