Down 7, Astros win

EXETER — Pinkerton seemed down for the count but the Astros used a huge rally to beat Exeter, 10-8 in extra innings.

Trailing 7-0, Pinkerton (9-7) struck for four runs in the fifth on RBI singles by Andrew Curran, Ryan Feeney (2 runs) and Kruz Komaridis. The visitors took the lead the following inning on Feeney's 350-foot grand slam over the left-field fence.

Bishop Guertin 4, Pinkerton 3

Four single-run innings slowly erased a pair of two-run leads for Pinkerton and sent the Astros to a heartbreaking 4-3 defeat at the hands of Bishop Guertin. Drew Sutherland lashed an RBI triple in the first inning but Pinkerton's offense trailed off as the game went along.

Pinkerton pitcher Ryan Feeney did it with both the arm and bat, bashing a two-run home run and earning the victory on the mound by tossing seven innings and giving up three runs while striking out nine batters.  Pinkerton baseball won 5-3 over Spaulding.

Pinkerton coach Ron Manseau recorded his 300th career coaching victory in the Astros' 5-2 win over archrival Londonderry. Manseau is in his 29th year with Pinkerton. Curtis Lonergan pitched a complete-game four-hitter for the winners.

Ryan Feeney pitched a gem, tossing seven innings and allowing just one earned run on three hits while striking out nine batters, but Pinkerton baseball lost 1-0 to Winnacunnet.

Feeney gets walkoff win

Pinkerton's Drew Feeney and Manchester Memorial's Brett Beckwith locked up in a first-class pitcher's duel in Derry, but an untimely eighth-inning miscue combined with a single from Feeney to lift the Astros to a 1-0 victory. After Drew Sutherland led off the inning with a base hit, Bechwith balked him to second, setting the stage for Feeney's single up the middle to plate the winning run. Kyle Cahill stood out at shortstop with six assists, single-handedly keeping Pinkerton in the hunt with three strong fielding plays in the sixth inning.

Unsung Siemering takes charge in Owls opener

 

DERRY, N.H. — Young teams will strikeout too much, kick or fling the baseball around some, and yeah, they will make a mistake or two on the basepaths.

Yesterday on opening day, senior Jake Siemering simply wiped all those Timberlane transgressions way, slaying host Pinkerton Academy in a five-hit, 1-0 shutout masterpiece.
