Salem's Melissa Higgins placed in three events at the Division 1 state track and field meet to help the Salem girls take fifth overall with 38 points.
Higgins won the 300 in 41.98 seconds. She took third in the 55 hurdles (8.66) and third in the long jump (16-4 3/4).

Read More »Winning a nine-school meet had its own reward for Pinkerton, but "it's been a long time since we've beaten Bishop Guertin," according to head coach Ann Bienvenue as the Astros got past the runners-up by 12 points. Chelsey Pepin beat out Timberlane's Torri Plank and Kate Estep to win the 1,500 and qualify for the state meet. Bethany Labossier (600) and Abbey Smith (hurdles) akso qualified for Pinkerton. Besides a 2-3 finish in the 1,500, the Owls took four of the top six places in the 300 led by Taylor Ordway (second in 43.9).
