1.St. John's Prep (8-5-3): With a Super 8 tournament berth within their sights, the Prep beat a pair of previously once-beaten teams this past week on the road, tipping Catholic Conference foe Malden Catholic, 2-1, before hammering Greater Boston League front-runner Waltham, 7-2. Playing their best hockey of the season right now.

2.Andover (12-2-3): Riding a four-game unbeaten streak, the Golden Warriors keep on rolling. A 16-save outing from goalie Nick Drew earned them a scoreless tie with Division 2 powerhouse Coyle-Cassidy (which went on to beat B.C. High later in the week).

3.Peabody (12-4-0): Winners of three straight, the Tanners have picked up their play defensively while also continuing to pile up the points. Its first line of James Noftle, Elijah Cohen and Matty Rodgers have combined for 98 points thus far.

4.Gloucester (10-3-2): Having lost two straight and facing their first major skid of the season, the Fishermen will have their mettle tested down the stretch as they attempt to hang on to first place in the Northeastern Conference.

5.Danvers (9-4-2): Another North Shore team playing its best hockey of the season, having won three straight and eight of its last 10 contests. Huge rematch with Peabody at home this Saturday will tell us if they're truly for real.

6.Central Catholic (7-6-4): The Raiders have hit a rough patch, sandwiching a pair of losses to Super 8 hopefuls Malden Catholic and Westford Academy around an 8-1 victory over Acton-Boxboro.

7.Timberlane (11-3-1): Ryan Rothwell has emerged as the hottest goalie in New Hampshire, sporting an 0.56 goals-against average during the Owls' nine-game unbeaten streak. They sit in first place in the NH Division 2 standings.

8.Salem, N.H. (12-4-0): Bounced back from a tough loss to down Trinity, 3-2. Josh Frahm continues to wield a hot stick, having scored 17 goals.

9.Masconomet (10-6-0): Chieftains qualified for state tournament play with still one-quarter of the regular season remaining | but then turned in a curious performance in a loss to a subpar Haverhill squad. They need to pick it up down the stretch.

10.Swampscott (9-4-3): Their long-awaited return to the postseason was finalized with
**Last Week's 4-3 triumph over the Lynn Jets. Winners of six of their last seven games, the Big Blue will now be gunning for the program's first-ever NEC (Small) crown.

11.North Andover (10-6-0): The Scarlet Knights need only a win or a tie to qualify for a fourth straight postseason berth after an impressive 2-2 tie with juggernaut Wilmington.

12.Newburyport (7-5-1): The Clippers are better than their record would suggest. An impressed week was highlighted by a 4-2 home win over previous No. 1 team Gloucester and a 5-2 triumph over North Reading.

Yup, Gloucester is having a rough stretch. Of course, losing Salah has not helped at all. It's really been tough for that team without him. But, they have to get back on the winning track tomorrow vs. Revere. As for SJP, they deserve to be there. They are just a great team. Period. I've seen them against MC, and they looked really, really good in a close battle.

Newburyport is now 9-6-1 after there win over North Andover and North Andover is 8-7-1
