Arsenault, Carbonneau spark Methuen victory

Early victories for Chanelle Arsenault in the 200 freestyle and Abbey Carbonneau in the 200 individual medley set the tone in Methuen's 93-84 triumph over St. Peter Marian in Worcester. Meaghan Aresnault, Chanelle's sister, won the 50 freestyle and was part of three winning relay teams for the Rangers (3-4).

Methuen goes 1-2 in backstroke but falls

Methuen lost to undefeated Chelmsford, but the Rangers did claim the top two spots in the backstroke with Meaghan Arsenault winning in the event in a time of 1:07.96. Maggie Conlon was right behind Arsenault, finishing at 1:07.97.

Acton-Boxborough 106, Andover 80

It was the Monica Patterson and Rachel Moore show for the Andover swimmers. Both were part of the relay team that won the 200 medley, and each took two singles events. Patteron won the 200 freestyle and the 100 freestyle, while Moore won the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke. Despite their efforts, Andover fell to Acton-Boxboro 106-80.

The Stone sisters led the way in Andover's 91-74 victory over Melrose. Senior Emily Stone took the 200 freestyle in 2:23.10. And in her first varsity meet, freshman sister Courtney Stone won the diving with a state sectional-qualifying score of 179.10.

Opolski breaks record, leads Haverhill to win

Maggie Opolski broke her own school record in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.11 and swam on the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays to help Haverhill to a season-opening 96-79 win over Billerica. Sister Emily Opolski chipped in with a win in the 100 butterfly and Stephanie Murray won the 200 IM and 100 freestyle for the Hillies.

Andover freshman Moore shines in debut

Freshman Rachel Moore won the 100 freestyle in 2:13.40 and swam on the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays to lead Andover to a season-opening 100-78 victory over Methuen. Fellow freshman Nina Mazzarelli took the 200 freestyle and defending state champion Katie O'Connell won the diving for the Golden Warriors. For the Rangers, Meaghan Arsenault took the 100 backstroke in 1:06.07 and swam on the winning 400 freestyle relay.
