North Reading 81, Amesbury 64

Cole Godzinski broke the school record in the 400 hurdles, running a 1:09.4. She helped lead North Reading girls 81-64 over Amesbury.

Godzinski also won the pole vault (7-6) and 100 hurdles (16.4).

Sophomore Hannah Chapman achieved personal bests in the discus, long jump and 100 hurdles, winning all three events, as part of Andover's 92-43 track victory over Lowell.

In her first time competing in the event, Chase Marcotte won the long jump with a 15-9 1/4 as Pentucket bested North Reading 80-65. Marcotte also won the triple jump (33-4 1/2).

Kimball breaks through

Timberlane junior Hannah Kimball placed second in 2:16.65 in the 800 at the Seacoast Championships. That was a 1.79-second personal best and moved her into seventh place all-time in our area. Gunnar Ericsson won the boys 300 hurdles in 41.41.

Knights repeat

By edging Masconomet, 75-70, North Andover locked up its second straight CAL track title. Samantha Barron had a strong 113-6 javelin throw as part of a two-win day, and Deidre Martyn's 2:23.0 800 was a personal best.

Central wins at Andover

With four first place finishes, Central Catholic won the Andover Boosters Track Meet with 73 points. Andover finished second with 54.

Individual winners for Central were Katie Equi in the 400-meter hurdles, Kylie Regan in the 800 and Lanie Jowett in the mile. All three of those also were part of the Raiders winning 2-mile relay team. Regan's winning time of 2:17.5 is the area's season best.

Knights emerge unbeaten

Winning the final relay by just shy of two seconds kept North Andover unbeaten and dealt Hamilton-Wenham its first loss, 73-71. Samantha Baron broke a 15-year-old school record in the javelin (115-11), Julie Mehlman won two events for the Knights, and Eleni Coufos, Julia Varoutsos, Jenna Smolag and Mary Lavery combined for the exciting 4x400 victory.

Equi holds off Puccia, Central edges Andover

With the decisive event coming down to the wire, Central Catholic anchor Katie Equi was able to hold off hard-charging Alex Puccia of Andover to win the 4x400 relay in 4:14.25 and give the Raiders a 76 1/2-68 1/2 win over the Golden Warriors. Kylie Regan added wins in the 800 and mile for the winners.
