Lawrence's Darwin Fabian is off to a 1-1 start on the mound, and Bradford's Andrew Barba starts in the outfield and currently is hitting .278 with five runs and four RBIs in six games.

Fabian's younger brother Danyer is a promising prospect as a sophomore, and Ricky Marte, also of Lawrence, adds depth off the bench.

Pat Matvichuk's hard-hit grounder plated the walk-off run in the seventh inning to lift the undefeated Chieftains (4-0) over North Andover, 5-4. James Riordan shined with a complete game effort and didn't surrender an earned run as errors led to all of North Andovers scoring plays. Raiders impressive in early going

A talented junior class had Central coach Marc Pelletier enthused in the preseason. Because of it, the coach kept 20 players, four or five more than usual.
