Sarah Oteri scored three times to lead Andover (1-1) to a 4-0 win over Medford. The Golden Warriors fired 56 shots at Medford while goalie Megan Petteruto only faced six from the Mustangs. Alica Nader assisted on all Andover goals.

Walsh's hat trick leads Big Blue

Mariana Walsh has been a wrecking ball this season, compiling a pair of hat tricks in Phillips Academy's first three games. Yesterday, Walsh (three goals, two assists) led the Big Blue to a 6-1 victory over Winchendon to help the team improve to 2-0-1. Alissa Fromkin racked up 22 saves and even assisted on Kaitlyn McInnis' third period goal. Phillips finished with an astounding 44 shots on net.

Taylor Steadman scored with less than a minute to play, propelling Brooks to a thrilling 2-1 win over Milton Academy. Marina Moschitto assisted on the game-winner and the duo connected in the first period with Moschitto scoring the goal.

40 shots, no goals for Warriors

Lincoln-Sudbury scored 25 seconds into the season opener with Andover and the goal stood up in a 1-0 decision.

The Warriors peppered Millicent Cruman with 40 shots but couldn't break the ice on the season.

Fromkin saves 46 in tie

Phillips Academy and Rivers battled to a 0-0 tie in a game highlighted by excellent defense and goaltending.

"It was remarkable, she had a great game," said coach Martha Fenton of goaltender Alissa Fromkin. "She had eight saves in the five minute overtime alone. I thought we came out firing in the first and third periods, but both teams played real strong defensively, and both goalies played really well."

Andover's Moschitto gives Brooks a hot start

Christy Donovan fired a pass to Jackie Kelleher, and she slid the puck across the crease to Andover's Marina Moschitto who redirected it for a goal late in the second period to give Brooks a 1-0 season-opening victory over Cushing. Goalie Amy Leichliter made an eye-popping 39 saves for the winners.

Andover girls falls short in shootout

WATERTOWN | For the second day in a row, a shootout doomed Andover hockey.

The Golden Warriors allowed the tying goal with less than a minute to go in regulation, and like the Andover boys a day earlier came up short in the shootout and fell to Woburn 3-2 in the Division 1 quarterfinals.

The River Rival Region may soon see a new sport that involves ice, skates, a puck and plenty of padding grace the region.

There is however one requisite: NO BOYS ALLOWED. Hoping to follow in the footsteps of the neighboring Northeastern Conference as well as the Cape Ann League, residents and family members alike have been pushing to create a girls cooperative hockey team for the Newburyport, Pentucket, Amesbury and Triton high schools.

Behind 12 saves from Meghan Pettoruto, Andover escaped Lincoln-Sudbury with a 1-0 win. The Warriors totalled 37 shots on goal, but only Sarah Oteri's second-period blast found the back of the net.
