Behind six different goal scorers, Pinkerton blasted Trinity 6-0. Corey Grant, Sean Kelly, Peter Drivas, Jordan Ward, Cory Woods, and Kyle Gundrum all netted a goal for the Astros, who remain undefeated (15-0). Alex Germaine and Omar Khartabil each had two assists.

Cancer victim makes transition from soccer to golf

Gary Iudice Jr. learned he had a tumor in his right leg. A total knee replacement was in order. There was three months of chemotherapy ahead following a 6<1/2> hour surgery, then more chemo after that.

Lundquist lighting it up

Make no mistake about it, it has been a bit of a rough transition for Fellowship Christian Academy boys soccer this year going from a non-MIAA schedule of predominantly small Christian schools to a spot in the Commonwealth Conference. Well, make that a rough transition for everyone except the Rams' Brian Lundquist. The sophomore has been absolutely superlative this fall, racking up 22 goals and five assists for the tiny Christian school in Methuen.

"Unless we win out, we're not going to make the tournament," said the senior captain of the Pelham boys soccer team. But that does not mean that Trainor is not going to get a taste of the postseason this fall. Take the helmet and shoulder pads off the masked man doing the kicking chores for the hottest team in Division 5, the Pelham Pythons, and you'll uncover the same guy who has been a four-year fixture on the soccer field for Pelham.

Brooks falls short in upset bid

Brooks had an opportunity for a major upset victory, but a goal in the 87th minute turned the tide and kept Roxbury Latin unbeaten, 2-1. Goalie Peter Crowley was immense, turning aside a penalty kick as part of his 13 saves. North Andover's Chris Gilbert (assist) and freshman Andreas Burbank-Crump shined for Brooks.

Sanborn makes statement

Sanborn reached its highlight of the season by defeating the defending state champions and second place Hopkinton in a 1-0 overtime victory. Two minutes into overtime, Steve Palumbo assisted twin Rob in the only goal of the game, which led to Hopkinton's first loss on the year. Goalie Nick Fogarty reported his fifth shutout of the season. This win puts the Indians in fourth place in the Class M Division of the state with a record of 10-2-0.
