Brooks defeated Buckingham Brown and Nichols 4-1, lead by Abby Hammerl who scored her second hat trick of the season. Abby had help from her sister Amelia who scored a goal and assisted on another. Marinia Moschitto added two assists.

Andover qualifies

Andover's girls soccer team qualified for the state tournament with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Masconomet. Gabby Cappello scored with five minutes remaining for the Warriors (5-4-9) on an assist from Lauren Pien.

Salem needs PKs to edge Concord

Amanda Vaudreuil's second-half goal sent the game into overtime, and her tally in penalty kicks clinched No. 1 Salem's 2-1 victory over No. 8 Concord in the Class L quarterfinals. Gina Righini, Tayllar Righini and Sarah Raye each added a goal to set up Vaudreuil in PKs.

Griffin, Lancers dominate on offense to advance

Led by a hat trick from Kelley Griffin, No. 2 Londonderry exploded for four goals in the second half on the way to downing No. 7 Winnacunnet 5-1 in the Class L quarterfinals. Tori McCombs opened the scoring and assisted on two of Griffin's goals, and Lydia Simmons had a goal and an assist for the winners.

Brooks 3, Governor's Academy 1

Brooks School moved Andover's Marina Moschitto from midfield to a forward slot with tremendous results yesterday in a 3-1 win over the Governor's Academy. She had two goals and an assist as the Green and White improved to 8-1-3. Nikki Kisner added a goal and an assist.

The score was close but the Broncos had few strong scoring opportunities as Hanna LaRochelle, McKenzie Miller and Avery Neusch dominated defensively. Sarah Snyder (1 save) posted another shutout.

Bourque is back

After missing four weeks of action due to shin splints, Rachel Bourque's fine crossing pass to Alex Riddle in the second half yielded the game's lone goal as Central Catholic edged Andover, 1-0. Ironically, Bourque's last game before her injury was against the Golden Warriors, who were led yesterday by shackling defense from Natalie Gibson and Jenn Caro.

Methuen tripped MVC Small-leading Haverhill, 3-2, to stretch its winning streak to five games. Karen Lima scored twice and Alex Levesque scored a goal for the seventh straight game. Earlier in the week the Rangers dumped a tough Dracut squad.
