Katie Zenevitch notched eight kills to help Central Catholic down Notre Dame Academy 25-17, 25-16, 25-23. Maggie Hillman was 11 for 11 serving with 11 digs and Carolyn Eddy added 20 assists for the Raiders.

Lawrence topped Tewksbury 25-10, 25-13, 25-14. The Lancers were led by the hitting of Karina Lopez, as well as the serving of Sofia Mendez.

Pinkerton downed Manchester West 25-6, 25-16 and 25-11. Kacie Connal had eight kills while Kenna Finlayson and Kelsey McKechnie notched five kills apiece. McKechnie also recorded 13 service points.

AnnMarie Britton had 13 points, five aces and eight kills to lead Timberlane to a 25-17, 20-25, 25-17, 25-15 season-opening win over Manchester Central. Steph Markarian had a stellar game in the middle and Tori Hastings racked up eight points, four aces and two kills for the winners.

North Reading topped Winchester 25-7, 25-9, 25-14. North Reading was led by the passing of Ashley Muse and Jessica Crugnale, who had seven aces.

Amanda Saab’s 17 kills and 18 service points powered Salem past Manchester Memorial 25-15, 25-14, 23-25, 25-12. Kerry White, a freshman, added five kills and three blocks and Melissa Paris shined on defense.

Methuen rallied from two games down to beat Billerica 25-22, 23-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-13. Rebecca Guselli dished out 30 assists and totalled 20 digs for the Rangers. Rashidat Agboola hammered 17 kills and five blocks up front, and outside hitter Taylor Gillette added five kills and 19 digs for the winners.

Led by Kelsey McKechnie (11 kills) and Kacie Connal (10 kills, 5 blocks), Pinkerton beat Alvirne 23-25, 25-13, 27-25, 25-14.

Superb serving and consistent pressure allowed Londonderry to overturn a huge deficit and defeat Merrimack, 26-28, 21-25, 25-22, 25-13, 15-13. Katie Schwarz notched a team-high 14 service points and Sara Seaborne was 15 for 15 serving.

Andover lost to Lincoln-Sudbury 25-15, 25-14, 25-17 to fall to 0-2.

North Reading defeated Belmont 25-9, 25-18, 25-7. Elizabeth Sutera had seven kills and three aces and Nicole Cecchini had four kills as the Hornets improved to 2-0.

North Andover defeated Stoneham 25-10, 25-11, 25-21. Frannie McFall and Susanne Morin led the offense and Erin Burns had 13 service points with five aces.

Defending Class L champion Salem opened its season by blasting Manchester West 25-5, 25-15, 25-11. Becca Weiss was a force with six aces and five kills while Amanda Saab had eight kills and Nicole Boucher had a fine all-around game.

Whittier swept Nashoba Valley 25-17, 25-22, 25-8. Jordan Alper racked up 11 kills and Kendra Hobbs had 11 assists.

Methuen beat Haverhill 22-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-21. Elaina Guzman chipped in with 16 assists and Rashidat Agboola added nine kills and three blocks.

Courtney Murach also added 11 kills and eight aces. Hannah Davis had 13 kills and three blocks for the Hillies.
