Pettet scores two

Amesbury improved to 2-0 on the season thanks to Alyssa Pettet, who scored both of her team's goals in a 2-1 win over Rockport. McKenna Hallinan and Sophia Carter had the assists and Alli Napoli made five saves in the Amesbury win. The Indians will look to stay unbeaten when they host Manchester Essex on Tuesday.

New school records

Jack Clohisy continued his great spring on the track, and was the highlight for a Pentucket boys team that came in fourth at Saturday's Cape Ann League Championship with 65 points. He won the 400 hurdles (56.77) and came in fourth in the long jump (19-10.50), but made his mark in the high hurdles where his second-place time of 14.64 broke his own school record of 14.92.

MVP times two

The Pentucket girls (69) placed second to North Reading (78.5) at the CAL Meet. Sachem winners were Madi Krohto (high jump), Syeira Campbell (school record 42.88 300 meters) and the 4x200 team of Krohto, Campbell, Emily Rubio and Kaley Enright. Krohto was named the Kinney Division MVP and meet MVP.

Jack Clohisy shined for the Pentucket boys track and field team, taking first in the 55 hurdles in 7.98 to help the Sachems finish third at the Cape Ann League meet with 54 points. The Sachems starred on the relays, taking first in the 4x200 (1:37.46) and second in the 4x400 (3:41.56).

Sachems hold on

Down by as much as 15 in the first quarter, the Pentucket girls basketball team crawled back to take a halftime lead over rival Amesbury before holding on for a 50-48 win. The Sachems (14-1) got 17 points from Angelina Yacubacci and 11 from Arielle Cleveland. Amesbury (12-2) had won 11 straight games.
