With Austin Prep threatening with runners on first and second and no outs in the top of the sixth, Central's Aidan Abernathy struck out two and got the third to ground out to get out of the threat. Then in the bottom half, he hit a two-run triple to lift the Raiders to a 4-2 win.

Caroline Pinho and Meghan Manzo both scored four goals as Central Catholic crushed Austin Prep 19-5 in girls lacrosse.

Austin Prep blanked Andover, 3-0, in the Division 1 state girls hockey quarterfinals. Andover coach Kevin Drew said, "They are the best team we've seen. There is nothing like this team. They have 8 or 9 kids who can really go. They had too much firepower. Sean D'Urso (27 saves) held us in there. She's our backbone and Emma Gilmartin played her heart out."

It was another good showing for Andover's Jason Denoncourt, who raced to first in 22.80 at yesterday's boys ski meet.

North Andover swept its two meets led by Alex Martel (third overall among the seven teams) and Zach Wolmering (10th overall). Andover's Jason Denoncourt was second overall, just behind St. John's Sebastian Fisichelli.

LAWRENCE — Greater Lawrence quarterback Jose Caceras was a man possessed.

He rushed for three touchdowns in the second half alone, and threw for another in the first half to fuel the Reggies 37-8 victory over Austin Prep Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Stadium. He finished with 170 yards on the ground and another 63 through the air.

Pentucket boys tennis easily dispatched of Austin Prep 4-1 to advance to this Tuesday's Division 3 North Semifinal against Ipswich. Connor Aulson and Cory Foster each won their singles matches, and the teams of Max Jackson and Nick Piotrowski and Min Bachrach and Liam McDonough won their doubles matches as well.

Pentucket fell to Austin Prep, 18-9, in the first round of the Division 2 North tourney. Erin Mikson had four goals and Caroline Cloutier three for the Sachems.

Sean Pfordresher battled for a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles and North Andover improved to 9-1 by beating Austin Prep 4-1.
