Big day for Nugents

 

It was a great day for the Nugent family from Phillips Academy at the New England Prep wrestling tournament in Hartford. Freshman Colin Nugent finished third at 126 with his only loss coming to Belmont Hill star Jimmy Harrington and sister Marisol Nugent not only won her 144-pound weight classin the first-ever girls prep tournament but she was named Outstanding Wrestler.

Phillips Academy placed fourth at the Class A pre tournament sparked by freshman Colin Nugent (126) and senior Eamon Garrity-Rokous (170), both of whom brought home individual titles. The Big Blue placed in eight weight classes.

Phillips breaks 4 NE records

The Phillips boys swim team had quite the day in a tri-meet sweep over Loomis and Hopkins, breaking four New England records. Max Hunger set new marks in the 200 freestyle (1:52.90) and the 500 freestyle (4:01.61), Sam Donchi is the new record holder in the 100 backstroke (57.67) and Arnold Su now owns the 100 breaststroke (1:03.91).

Overtime win

 

 Brooks goalie Sydney Correa kept her team in the game in the third period when it was outshot 17-1 and the Green and White (6-1-1) won it in overtime on a goal by Brianna O'Neill as Brooks edged Phillips Academy 2-1. Brooke Rogers also scored for Brooks and Olivia O'Brien scored for Phillips. Correa finished with 38 saves.
