Prep hockey heads into the postseason on a roll

Six straight wins to end the regular season couldn't have worked out any better for the St. John's Prep hockey team. Colin Prior had a pair of goals, including the game-winner with 1:46 remaining, as the Eagles finished the regular season on a roll after beating visiting Notre Dame of Connecticut yesterday, 4-2, at the Ristuccia Arena.

Hughes, Andover overcome injuries

A trio of seniors more than made up for the absence of two key starters as Andover toppled Notre Dame of Hingham, 60-45. Lauren Hughes ruled the paint for the Golden Warriors (6-1) with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Jordy Shoemaker and Kelly Driscoll keyed a decisive second quarter, helping to hold Notre Dame to just four points.

Colman paces Whittier

Whittier got a career-high 21 points from junior Damian Colman, who drilled four 3-pointers, and a solid 15-point, 12-rebound performance from Gary Littles to pull away from Notre Dame of Lawrence, 75-61. Brandon Sheehy chipped in with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 7 steals for the Wildcats (1-3). Nelson Castillo scored 20 points for Notre Dame and Eddie Contreras added 16.

Raiders win in dramatic fashion

Central Catholic captured the Bishop Rice Memorial Tournament at the University of Vermont, defeating Notre Dame of Fairfield, Conn., in a shootout.

After a 2-2 stalemate in regulation and a scoreless overtime period, Mark Brien and Nick Leonard buried their chances in the shootout to seal the victory. Goalie Mike Alesse was huge in the shootout, saving four of the five shots he faced.

Fantini, Andover fall to Notre Dame of Hingham

Jess Morrow scored the lone goal on a penalty kick for Andover, which fell to Notre Dame 2-1. Camille Fantini made eight saves for the 5-3-1 Golden Warriors.
