DANVERS — The late season momentum continued for Central Catholic Saturday as the Raiders captured the Division 2 North title in convincing fashion.

Led by champions Mike Glynn (106) and Joey Sanchez (145), the Raiders piled up 213 1/2 points to easily outdistance runner-up Burlington (156.5). North Andover was three points back in third place.

Kitchings shines

 

Haverhill's Jayla Kitchings had a huge day at the MSTCA Last Chance Meet, finishing first in the 55 hurdles, breaking her own school record and also jumping 17-2 for fifth  in the long jump to break Phong Nguyen’s 1996 school record of 16-10.

Triton hockey falls in opener

Despite holding leads of 1-0 and 3-2, the Triton hockey team fell to defending Northeast Conference champion Danvers 4-3 on Wednesday night. Sam Rennick, Derek Maida and T.J. Regan each scored for the Vikings, and Justin Szymanski made 22 saves.

Rodrigues reals it in

North Andover goalie Allie Rodrigues wasn't letting anything past her. She made six saves in a big non-league matchup against Danvers, highlighted by a diving snatch after an assumed Knight's goal was called back. But, Jillian Good scored minutes later, and NA earned the 1-0 victory.

Polanco keys Knights

 

North Andover had a big day, ripping Chelmsford 48-30 as part of a quad-met sweep to improve to 11-5. Six different Knights were 3-0 on the day including 138-pounder Adrian Polanco who coach Carl Cincotta was "the story of the day — two kids were bumped up to face him and he beat them both."

Lucy strikes

 

Team leading scorer Matt Lucy scored a short-handed goal for the winning point and added another goal and an assist as North Andover handed Danvers its first loss, 6-3. Matt Bosco added a pair of assists for the Knights (7-3-2), who played perhaps their best game of the season.
