It was a great day for the Nugent family from Phillips Academy at the New England Prep wrestling tournament in Hartford. Freshman Colin Nugent finished third at 126 with his only loss coming to Belmont Hill star Jimmy Harrington and sister Marisol Nugent not only won her 144-pound weight classin the first-ever girls prep tournament but she was named Outstanding Wrestler.

Phillips Academy placed fourth at the Class A pre tournament sparked by freshman Colin Nugent (126) and senior Eamon Garrity-Rokous (170), both of whom brought home individual titles. The Big Blue placed in eight weight classes.

Phillips Academy finished third in the Class A Prep tournament and had 11 wrestlers with top six places. Fast-improving Arnav Bhakta of Andover was runner-up at 106, and Lawrence's Ramphis Medina and Windham's Vinny Marino each placed third.

A 6th place finish in the men’s race from Logan Foster of Atkinson highlighted the Northern Essex Community College cross country team's trip to Rhode Island for the Tri-State Invitational on Saturday.
Competing primarily against four year colleges, Foster was the top junior college finisher in a in an 8K time of 30:39 in a field that featured 63 runners.
